Don Misenhimer

After graduating from T.W.C., Don married his junior high/high school sweetheart, Linda Ann Gay, '64. They moved to Arlington in 1972 with their children.

Don had a construction company and was very active in Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Arlington Park and Recreation Board, the Lamar High Booster Clubs and the Optimist Club.

In August 1994 Don was diagnosed with colon cancer. He continued to work, travel and play golf until two weeks before his death. It was a common sight to see Don playing golf with his chemo bag around his waist! He lost his battle on April 9, 1997.

Later this year the city of Arlington Park and Recreation Department will dedicate the "Don Misenhimer Park" which will include an amphitheatre, pavilion, courts and nature trails.

Linda still lives in Arlington.
