George Kissinger found this site and wanted to add the following:

I can add some information on Jack’s life. I was searching his, and other, name(s) from Viet Nam days. His name came across your website. I was saddened to learn of Jack’s passing.

I had not seen Jack since our days together aboard ship, serving in Viet Nam. Jack and I served together aboard USS Pitkin County LST 1082 in 1969-1970. Jack was a Radioman and I was his division officer and later, department head. I do recall Jack’s performance, and he always attained 4.0 grades in all categories (highest possible grades). He advanced quickly up two grades in the short two years on board. He was a quick learner and a dedicated sailor.

On a personal note, I remember Jack had his degree in fine arts from UT Austin and onboard ship he kept a running diary/sketch book. He drew in charcoals and recorded many aspects of shipboard life, both visually and in writing. He was a good man.
